Borkum Island is the westernmost possession of Germany.
It sits in the North Sea, just off the coast of Holland,
and I bet the Dutch would love to own it. The sand on the
beaches is the kind you like to feel running through your toes.
But beach weather is usually only between June and September,
with an emphasis on between.
We were there in May, 2004, when the wind off the North Sea was
howling, and the ducks were ducking...as were we...
Beware the Borkum Riff...
