Hotel San Telmo

Hotel San Telmo takes its name from the little church down the way that you can
see here in photos 005, 006, 007, and 016. The Church of San Telmo. It was pretty much
the first building built in Puerto de la Cruz, and is certainly one of the oldest.

But, back to the present, Hotel San Telmo is located in the very center of Puerto's
waterfront. From our balcony on the highest floor, we had wonderful views of the lower
end of the Orotava Valley to the east, of the sun setting to the west, and of the Atlantic
dead ahead to the north.

The people who run and maintain this hotel are wonderful. That, and its proximity, are
why we returned. It's also got a nice pool on the roof for cooling off after a hot Canarian
day (which we missed on this trip), a nice lounge, and two well maintained computers with
high-speed internet connections. You can also swim in the ocean off the jetty out front
if you like, or in the public pools off to the right if you decide that the pool on the
roof is not the place to see and be seen.

In short, it's a really nice place to come home to after a long day of high-altitude
hairy driving. Pour a Canarian honey rum over ice, or a nice glass of Lanzarotean El Grifo
semi dulce, put your feet up on the railing of the balcony, watch the sunset and listen
to the waves.
